When you think of wedding receptions, what is the one thing that they all have? The wedding cake! Dating back to the Roman Empire, this sweet treat also serves as a symbol of your first joint act as a married couple, your commitment to provide for each other, and the sweet life you will share together.

While your wedding cake will be delicious, it is not just a dessert. It is the base of your wedding reception and a ceremony in itself. It should be placed in the center of your reception hall so guests can "OOH and AWWW" over it. A great location would be the center of the dance floor? This way once your cake cutting ceremony is over, the cake and table can be removed so guests can dance the night away. Another great idea is to put your cake (safely) in it's own designated corner with flowers and lights surrounding it.

If you have your cake picked out, you can start planning your cake table decor. This can be done simply by incorporating a white table cloth, tulle or any other inexpensive fabric. You can also decorate your cake table with a simple white table cloth, scatter some rose petals (or other decor) and your cake table will be elegant and simple.  A length of tulle loosely billowed on the top of the table gives the impression of your cake floating on clouds.

Many copules opt to serve the cake first. I'm sure guests won't object! Whether you serve your cake at the beginning of the reception or end, it is sure to be a huge hit!
